Moakley Park Cleanup - South Boston
MAKE MOAKLEY YOURS by joining a cleanup at the park this season!
About this event:
Join Boston Harbor Now and the Boston Parks and Recreation Department at Moakley Park to give back to your community and enjoy the beauty of this waterfront park!
Volunteers should wear work clothes and close-toed shoes (that you don’t mind getting wet or dirty). Gloves will be provided, but you may also want to bring your own hat, sunscreen, raincoat, or jacket depending on the weather. Volunteers should bring snacks if they wish. Bottled water will be provided.
Event will run rain or shine, however may be canceled due to severe weather conditions.
What is provided: All necessary tools, including gloves, pickers, bags, sharp containers and safety instruction.
What to expect: A volunteer session is 2 hours long, beginning at 9am and will require picking up litter and natural debris. We’ll give you everything you need to keep you safe. Just bring a positive attitude as you help make a difference in this City of Boston Park.
Directions: Please meet staff at the crosswalk across from the Edward J. McCormack Bathhouse at Carson Beach (pictured above). Parking and bike racks are available there. The closest public transit stop is JFK/UMass station on the Red Line, a 0.6 mile walk.
COVID-19 safety protocols:
This event will be limited to 50 volunteers
Face mask or covering is required for participants
Physical distancing between parties is required
Stay home if you feel sick
Do not participate if you have shown signs or symptoms or had exposure to sick individuals within 14 days of the event
*Note*: If the event of your choice is full but you are interested in participating in future Moakley Park Cleanups, please contact Boston Harbor Now's volunteer coordinator, Merrin Meltzer at mmeltzer@bostonharbornow.org.
