Wingaersheek Beach Cleanup - Launching new Senior Volunteer Corps - Register by August 4th
Seaside Sustainability’s Senior Volunteer Corp Coastal Cleanup!
Beach cleanups are a great way to get out, enjoy our beautiful coastline while helping to protect marine life, collect data about plastics and other toxic waste harming our ocean ecosystems, and raise public awareness about the threats to our environment.
Important Info for all Coastal Cleanup Senior Volunteers-
*Where and when: Wingaersheek Beach on Tuesday, August 4 at 8 am. Most people collect for an hour and a half to two hours. Important!!
*Parking: Observe parking regulations at the beach.
*What to do now: Register via the link below. Download the Ocean Conservancy data form and bring it with you to the beach. You must read and agree to the conditions of the Covid-19 Protocol and Waiver below by filling in the form, checking the related boxes and submitting the form.
*What to bring: 30-gallon trash bags (we suggest bringing 2 bags per person); rubber gloves (suggested); the Ocean Conservancy data form; pencils or pens to complete the form; clipboard or hard surface recommended for ease in entering the data.
*Covid-19 awareness: Volunteers should wear masks and observe social distancing advisories; work independently and stay at least 6 feet away from other volunteers.
*The collection process: Enter the marine debris you collect on the Ocean Conservancy data form. Volunteers often find it easiest to do this as they go. Occasionally, volunteers find hypodermic needles. If you find one, leave it alone and/or call the police.
*What to do with what you collect: Dispose your bags of debris in the dumpster at the beach.
*What to do with the form: Once the form is filled out, please either scan it and email to email@example.com or mail it to Seaside Sustainability, PO Box 131, Gloucester, MA 01931.
*Spread the word: Take photos, send to us, post on your social media and tag Seaside Sustainability. Let your friends know what you were up to and invite them to join you at our next First Tuesday coastal cleanup!
