How Mass Fleet Advisor Helps Keep Massachusetts Beautiful, One Truck at a Time

Mass Fleet Advisor

Massachusetts has long been a leader in clean energy and environmental stewardship, and transportation is one of the next major frontiers. For the small businesses, fleet operators, and municipal departments that keep our state running, the shift toward cleaner vehicles can feel both exciting and overwhelming. That’s exactly why Mass Fleet Advisor was created: to make electrification simple, accessible, and financially smart.

Mass Fleet Advisor provides free, no-obligation technical assistance to help organizations understand whether electric vehicles make sense for their operations. It is a state-funded initiative from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center (MassCEC), delivered by CALSTART, that offers practical, real-world insights to help fleet operators  make informed decisions that reduce their carbon footprint and strengthen their bottom line.

Adopting zero-emission vehicles helps keep Massachusetts beautiful by reducing emissions, improving community health, and supporting a cleaner transportation future for everyone. Meanwhile, vehicle purchasers could see savings from reduced maintenance and fuel costs. It’s a rising tide that lifts all boats (or trucks, in this case).

Why Mass Fleet Advisor?

Medium- and heavy-duty vehicles play an outsized role in local carbon emissions, yet many operators don’t have the time, tools, or data to evaluate electric options. Mass Fleet Advisor fills that gap with a simple goal: help organizations explore electrification with confidence.

Participation is open to:

●    Small businesses that utilize trucks and vans
●    Larger businesses with fleets in delivery, logistics, telecom, construction, and more
●    Nonprofits operating commercial vehicles
●    Public fleets in municipalities served by Municipal Light Plants (MLPs)

If you have at least three vehicles, including one medium- or heavy-duty truck or van, Mass Fleet Advisor will help you understand what electrification could look like for your operations.

Why Does Electrification Matter?

Every business or municipal department that explores electrification contributes to a larger statewide effort to reduce carbon and other emissions and protect the environment. Cleaner trucks are a powerful way to improve air quality and reduce noise, especially in communities most affected by transportation pollution.

Electrifying even a portion of a fleet can lead to:

●    Reduced fuel and maintenance costs
●    Reduced carbon emissions in your communities
●    A modernized, eco-friendly brand image

These benefits ripple outward, helping keep Massachusetts’ neighborhoods, roadways, and natural areas cleaner and healthier.

What are the Benefits?

Mass Fleet Advisor is built on one core promise: expert guidance, made simple. Every participant receives three valuable services, each completely free.

1. A Personalized Site Assessment

Our team visits your depot or facility to understand how your vehicles operate day to day. We evaluate routes, charging needs, building layout, parking orientation, electrical capacity, and more. This assessment ensures that every recommendation is tailored to your specific needs.

2. A Customized Fleet Electrification Report

Using your operational data, we produce a detailed report that spells out:

●    Which of your vehicles could be good candidates for electrification

●    Cost comparisons between your current trucks and electric options

●    Charging strategies that fit your space, routes, and power availability

●    Potential incentives and funding opportunities

●    Total cost of ownership savings over time

●    A personalized roadmap for how to move forward, now or when you’re ready

Each report is actionable and clear and serves as an invaluable tool for financial planning, regulatory preparation, and long-term strategy. Best of all, there’s no requirement to purchase a vehicle. The goal is to give you the facts you need to make the right decision for you and your stakeholders, whether that’s now or in the future.

Once you receive your Electrification Report, if you’re ready to make the leap to electric, we’ll be there to give you:

3. Tailored Procurement Guidance.

We can help connect you with the dealer that’s right for you and help you ask the right questions, help you unlock financial support, provide hands-on assistance with Requests-for-Proposal (RFPs) and responses, and guide you through workforce training best practices and standard operating procedure development. When it comes to smoothing your path to electrification, we’re here to help.

Limited Spots Available Through 2026!

Mass Fleet Advisor is funded only through November 2026, and participation is capped at 200 organizations statewide. As of today, 92 spots are already filled.

If you want to explore how electric trucks or vans could work for your business or municipality, now is the time. The sooner you join, the more insight you’ll gain to plan ahead. Let’s get electric!
