Students for Environmental Action in Massachusetts

Launch a SEAM club to educate and inspire students to clean up and green up your high school and community

KMB's Students for Environmental Action in Massachusetts (SEAM) program provides you with the tools, mentorship, and resources you need to make a measurable impact at your high school and in your community — while also helping you develop leadership skills.

Unlike many traditional environmental clubs that focus primarily on discussion or awareness, SEAM clubs are action-oriented. Our student leaders take direct action by organizing real-world community litter cleanups and by leading peer-to-peer environmental education campaigns. Each SEAM club is part of our larger statewide movement working toward achieving tangible results and lasting impact.

You Bring the Passion. We’ll Provide the Support You Need to Succeed

We provide everything you need to launch and maintain a successful SEAM club at your high school, including:

  • A club launch guide that explains best practices
  • A dedicated KMB mentor (Zoom-based)
  • A digital toolkit with agenda templates, flyers, and communication resources
  • KMB logos and templates for flyers, social media, and school materials
  • Free cleanup equipment: Up to 10 litter grabbers and safety vests (a $300 value)
  • Zoom-based meetings with other SEAM club leaders from across the state to share ideas and success stories
  • Eligibility for our SEAM Club of the Year Award and our annual SEAM club celebration event

SEAM clubs focus on four core impact areas to improve their local communities:

  • Litter Prevention & Cleanup: Understand who and what is causing litter and organize student volunteer, business, and government resources to clean it up and prevent future littering behavior.
  • Waste Reduction & Recycling: Reduce reliance on single-use products and promote effective waste management programs to reduce the volume of trash that ends up in landfills, incinerators, or as litter.
  • Beautification & Community Greening: Beautify school grounds or other public spaces via pollinator gardens, tree plantings, and other improvements.
  • Environmental Education & Sustainability:  Educate fellow students about how changing personal actions and consumption habits can protect our environment and reduce waste.
